The Flying L Ranch

Dan was off last week, so we took the opportunity to get away for a couple days. We got a mailer a few weeks ago about this ranch called the Flying L, for a great weekend deal to stay there, and we decided to check it out. Well, it was tons of fun!! The kids had a blast with all the cowboy stuff and just being somewhere other than home. It was nice to get away and discover that our kids could do well in vacation mode. Especially good to know since I'm about to fly with them in a couple weeks to see my mom. Here's a recap of our weekend:

The first night we were there the evening's activity was to go down to the little ghost town they had set up and dress up like cowboys/cowgirls. They had a big rack of clothes and bins and lots of cowboy hats. Here's the getups we found for the kids. We explored the ghost town a little and looked at the horses, then headed back to our room via a trailer being pulled by a tractor.
The Ghost Town
Pony rides!! Luke rode a pony at the Rodeo a few weeks back, so he was ultra excited about riding a pony again. This little white pony was named Marshmallow. Luke and Rayna were the only kids there for this pony ride, so they got to do it a couple times.

Rayna usually acts a little more afraid around animals, so I was shocked that she actually wanted to ride, but here she is! She looks like such a big girl sitting on a pony!

This is Rayna throwing a fit after her ride was done and Luke got to go on again. She was crying "Ride pony again! Pony, pony!"

And she gets another ride. Giddy-up!
